The indomitable spirit of the West Indian spirit came alive this year as the team did exceptionally well in the world of cricket consistently for the last few months together. They crossed the first hurdle winning ICC Under-19 world cup beating India in the final; then again the West Indian women’s cricket team sprang surprise defeating the mighty Australia in the ICC Women’s World T20. And finally the D-day came this Sunday when the Men in Maroon completely outsmarted England, in the last over of the match with Braithwaite’s 4 straight sixes and winning the ICC World T20 2016 trophy by 4 wickets.

Putting things in perspective, the West Indies have accomplished great things in recent times with very limited resources at their disposal. Over the last few months, the difference between West Indian players and WICB (West Indies Cricket Board) has only amplified with time. In fact, several of the West Indies players are even living with the fear that their contract won’t be renewed. Many of them are apparently facing expulsion from participating in tests and ODI matches.

Darren Sammy’s Full Emotional Speech

Emotional Darren Sammy burst out last night after the match saying that the attitude of the WICB is disappointing. Most shockingly, the dispute between West Indian board and players are yet to be sorted out even after so many months, but the team never lets the board and fans down. Whenever, they get a chance on the field the Caribbean players only excelled reaching greater heights of success every time.

Players’ With No Brain!!

The West Indies players are not getting their dues. Last night, Captain Sammy disclosed to the media how the clouds of uncertainty still shroud over them with several senior cricketers are still uncertain about when and whether they will ever play their next international match or not. Also some cricketers are infuriated with the Board behavior. A recent ago, the WICB went to the extent of saying that these cricketers are ‘players with no brain’.

Can Golden Era Come Back for West Indies

There was a time in the late 80s era when the West Indians’ had the glorious time in cricket. They won two consecutive world cup tournaments in the year 1975 and 1979. Now it seems that West Indies are revisiting their past and bringing in all the lost glory. Winning T20 World Cup for the second time in history will be definitely a morale booster for the entire team and cricket universe as well.

Now it’s high time the West Indian board must show some compassion towards these players who are relentlessly playing top level cricket to make the Caribbean Islands proud. No doubt, the entire fraternity and fans are standing in support of these cricketers.

Putting all adversities aside and become the T20 World Cup champion is truly an inspirational event that will continue to mesmerize and motivate every one of us for a long-long time.
