Top 6 reasons to prove the Hypocrisy among Indians

India is known for its rich culture and heritage, its ethnicity and technological advancement. But there’s one more thing India is famous for, HYPOCRISY! We often claim to be modern, broad minded & welcoming towards criticism. However, our minds are infected by a pest called hypocrisy. It is something that comes instinctively to us. We are born with it. We say something but do the complete opposite. Preach something but won’t follow it.

Don’t believe me? Check it out yourself.

1. Wearing Shorts or Crop T-Shirt is “NO”

A girl wearing shorts or crop top is thought of as a slut who is trying to woo men by exposing her body. But a girl wearing a saree is appraised as a traditional, well-cultured, well-mannered girl; even if half of her abdomen is noticeable. Skin is visible in both dresses. Then why judge a girl wearing western dresses? Hypocrisy at its best.

2. Everyone Wants a Son

People pray to Goddesses and Devis. And on the other hand, they beg for a son. Irony! Isn’t it? We may not express our desires socially to prove ourselves modern. But deep inside we all secretly wish for a baby boy. Why? And perhaps, that is the reason the government has launched schemes like “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”.

3. No dowry for daughter but for son – YES

We criticize social ill practices like dowry, domestic violence, preference for male child, child labor etc. But we never hesitate to participate in such weddings, go to such homes and mingle with such people. As a matter of fact, dowry is still practiced today in the name of “A father’s gift to his daughter”. Changing the name just to pretend themselves modern is an ultimate example of hypocrisy. Well, this “Naming Ceremony” of old habits is a new fad among Indians.

4. Public Display of Affection (PDA)

While we don’t mind people peeing on the corner of the walls, PDA is a big NO in our country. But dare a couple of kiss in public. Wait, they can’t even hold hands. If PDA is not a part of our culture, I don’t think littering around the walls is.

Adding to that list, if there is a fight on the road; people choose to ignore it or stay numb about it. However, if a boy and girl are seen hugging (friendly hug) or seen together laughing (friends), everyone lays their eye on them.

When did showing one’s affection become a crime?

5. Girls Can’t Go Out Alone

We ask women to be modest even while men roam half-naked. Girls are not allowed to go out after evening while boys do not have any time restriction. There are a different set of rules for boys than girls. Daughters are preached to stay away from the other sex. I wonder, are the boys taught to behave properly with girls? Why this difference in preaching?

Everyone should be taught to respect each other. Not because of their sex, but because they are humans.

6. Talking Sex is Taboo

Sex and menstruation are still considered a taboo. People don’t talk about it in public and in some cases not even in private. Women are not allowed to visit temples during this period. There is no basic sex education provided to children because that’s not a part of OUR CULTURE. I wonder how Kama Sutra became all that popular with such liberal mindset. (Sarcasm intended).

These are just a few examples of our hypocrisy. Don’t you think, the time has come to clear the mess we’ve made over the years? Next time you see a girl wearing a short dress or a couple holding hands or for that matter any other person, please Don’t JUDGE THEM! Stop being a HYPOCRITE.
