Valentine’s Day, the day of love is over…But is love restricted to a day or a week? Does love die after the stipulated time? How is it possible? Love is an emotion, a feeling and from when did it get an expiry or a commencement day or date? Or was it not love since beginning? Then why and how are people falling out of love and moving out of relationships?

Is Love limited to a particular day or date?

The Times of India’s supplementary copy, Delhi Times on February 14, 2016 published an article on how people aren’t willing to be single on this day and thus look for impromptu date on online dating sites. Why? Is it a compulsion to have a date on this day, even if you are not in love? Are we getting into relationship merely to change the status from “single” to “committed”, or “in open relationship”? And those, who are serious in relationship and “truly and madly” in love, are also breaking up….

Increasing trend for need of relationship consultant

A recent trend of divorcing soon after the honeymoon is gaining momentum. Why has the need of relationship consultant boomed recently? Is the author of this article seeing only negative? Or has the trust of people in relationships, love and marriage shaken to the roots? Is love equated with lust now? Or has the marriage become an institution merely? Has the essence of love and marriage loss in midway? Were the roots this weak? They weren’t, and statistics prove this.

Two decades back, the divorce rate in India was not even 5%, whereas 3 more family courts had to be opened in Bengaluru in 2013 in order to cater to growing divorce cases. Why? What has happened? Is it the ease to file the divorce? Is it the fact that people have started to realize what is self-respect? Or are we failing to adapt to new circumstances? What is the reason? More importantly, how can it be changed?

Failing Marriages  – Who is responsible?

A MNC guy butchered his wife in innumerable pieces and stored those in refrigerator, over a petty fight this horrendous act was done. Most importantly, it indeed was a love marriage- a marriage consolidated between two adult who were in love with each other. Nevertheless, even arranged marriages are also failing. But the moving away in love relationship or age old relationship still comes as a shock. It’s just that today people have gotten engrossed in their closed space to an extent and other person approaching to them, seems like an act of trespassing. Today we have become so superficial and so superfluous that we do things for the show. Weirdly, we can’t blame our surroundings solely for this, because we also are the active participant in it.

But how about if we start introspecting and looking for the reason of failures within ourselves, then may story would be different. It is highly not advisable to stick to the relationships wherein the person doesn’t respect you. But in other relations, why don’t we start ignoring and overlooking the mistakes, and looking at those brighter days of relationships. How about surprising your spouse pleasantly!!! May be rekindling the dimming flame of love, spark it up again. Or may be we go back to the basics and start understanding their stance. Moreover, as Lao Tzu said “To hold, you must first open your hand.” Let go and give the person space yet make them realize that you are there only. Don’t try to look for perfection in every moment, rather make it perfect. Happiness is not in moments, it’s in you.

Lastly, it is not necessary that every relationship necessarily must work out, may be it happened just to teach you some learning for future; but it also doesn’t mean that you accept failures even without putting any efforts. So, just go and introspect, look for the scope of improvement in your relationship and enjoy each perfectly happy moment of your relationship.
