Bring-it-on seems to be the latest mantra of big and bold Bollywood. Thanks to director R. S. Prassanna, we are discussing and even laughing our guts out on a ‘strictly confidential’ subject of “Erectile dysfunction” and that too in an open forum. Quite an achievement for a patriarchal Indian society which is eveready to push the blame on fairer sex for every ‘Bedroom debacle’!!????.

But beware, in changing times, with always-right Alpha woman wearing the crown at home and in the office, ‘ performance anxiety’ in men is absolutely bielievable …..Ouch ????.

Shubh Mangal Savdhan – an entertaining watch

Interestingly, the theme of the film may be below the belt but humour is not. Keeping vulgarity at a safe distance, SHUBH MANGAL SAVDHAN banks on symbolism and double entendres but in a descent way.

Don’t miss out bride’s mother turning a fairytale of Alibaba and challiss chor into a sex-education lecture..???????? . Yes, sometimes, the characters do go overboard with insensitive remarks but  R. K. Prassanna, manages to traverse that thin line between ‘crass’ and ‘class’ with much aplomb.

Starting in VICKY DONOR with the           ‘ Problem of abundance’ and ending with  ‘Problem of an empty barrel’, in SHUBH MANGAL SAVDHAN, Ayushman  Khurana has come to a full circle ????.

The Plot

He and Bhumi are in the middle of marraige- mania that is associated with every traditional Indian wedding. Eager-beaver baratis are here to make this ceremony seem like marraige-of-the-decade.

Even modern bride, Bhumi Pednekar aka Sugandha, wants to flood her FB page with never-seen-before pics along side her beau. Not to be left behind, ladkewaale are pumping Ayushman aka Mudit, to deliver a ‘smashing performance’ on the wedding night.

But call it pre marraige jitters or performance pressure, poor Mudit suffers an anxiety attack that leaves Sugandha high and dry in literal sense.

Unfortunately the silence in the bedroom continues to everyones horror including their respective parents who are simply unable to come to the terms with the dynamics of ‘size’ and ‘time’. Going in complete denial, his theory of ‘System failure’ is flushed  down the drain by the ‘hurt’ elders.

Not able to face this constant ridicule and’izzat Ka falooda’, depressed and dejected Mudit, in pursuit of ‘ eternal hardness’ embarks on a journey in hope of divine intervention.

On the way, his comic encounters with fakirs peers babas and their magic potion will leave you in splits ????????.

Does love overcome physical imperfection?

Whether love conquers lust??? Does love overcomes physical imperfections is the social message delivered by the team of Shubh Mangal Savdhan.

Entire starcast especially the line up of mummies papas buajis bhaisaabs etc etc deserve a roomful of bouquets for their natural act.

Fresh from the success of BAREILLY KI BARFI and TOILET EK PREM KATHA, Ayushman and Bhumi continue with their dream run and amazing chemistry. Frustrated to the core with his unspoken agony, Ayushman delivers a smashing performance in real sense… simply terrific…his comic timing and ‘bechara’ act will endear him to many…. including me..????.

Outspoken Bhumi, now a veteran of behenji-in-small-town roles is a delight to watch. She completely nails the mood swinging act from amusement to helplessness to plain annoyance ….good going girl????.

Crispy dialogues are not to missed for anything

But man of the match is director, R.K Prassana for tackling a  taboo subject in a mature and responsible way. Presenting it in a sugarcoated format is an added  bonus that will change your outlook and your mood for now.
