Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has shared a new video on Facebook explaining her lone battle with depression a couple of years back. She revealed to the media that there was a time when she used to silently cry out of depression and anxiety and the very next moment she had to meet people or walk the red carpet with an ‘artificial’ smile on her face as if nothing has happened.
In the latest video the Piku actress explained how depression is viewed as social stigma in India. Especially, if you are an Indian celebrity – you are always expected to stay happy – depression and anxiety must stay away from you. But people don’t realize the celebrities’ secret fight against loneliness and other anxieties inside the glamour world. Depression has affected many celebrities in one way or other across the globe.
Deepika Padukone said that depression is one such illness that doesn’t come with any symptoms or indications. And one day it secretly attacked the actress though she was doing great in her filmy career at that time. But the supports of your parents and loved ones is all that you need to negate the impact of depression on your overall persona.
Deepika Padukone successfully recovered from the illness by seeking medical help at the right time and she is now on the right path of getting fully cured of it. The starlet’s idea behind sharing her depression story was to make people aware of this common yet gruesome disease which affects the thinking capacity of individuals. The actress is currently shooting a Hollywood film with actor Vin Diesel.
She stressed upon the need to destigmatise social trauma associated with the disease while uplifting the spirits of depression patients worldwide. The actress disclosed that sports also helped her a lot towards successfully battling against depression.
