As a girl it gets hard, sometimes, to not just get the right advice but also to follow through on it. It isn’t the easiest tasks. And to have someone who’s watching over you and is there to give you advice and to remind you that there is nothing wrong with you, no matter what the world may say to you, is priceless.
This is a world that is constantly trying to pull us down and point out the mistakes we may make and exploit the insecurities we may have. And in this world, is also this great man that everybody knows of, Amitabh Bachchan.
A man, who has proven to be a symbol for success everywhere, be it professionally or in terms of his personal life, has just shown himself to be the encourager he is, and can be. Popularity and stardom are not easy things to live with, and who would know that better than this man and his family. Perhaps, it was this fact that leads him to make a decision that shows his wisdom and willingness to share this wisdom.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s Open Letter
Mr. Bachchan recently wrote an open letter to his granddaughters, Navya at 18 and Aradhya at 4. In this letter he has addressed two of the biggest things which may become issues of contention in the course of their lives; the responsibilities that come with their famous last names, and their gender. He tells them to be fearless in everything that they do and not let the words of others influence them. He tells them to ignore the irrelevance of others trying to dictate “how to dress, how to behave, who you can meet and where you can go.” He tells them “Don’t let anyone make you believe that the length of your skirt is a measure of your character”.
Amitabh Bachchan – “it was a letter to granddaughters everywhere”
In a video that was released later, Mr. Bachchan has claimed that although this letter was addressed to his grand daughters, in spirit, it was a letter to granddaughters everywhere. His letter is proof that people everywhere pull down women and criticizes them. There is always someone somewhere who will be holding us up, telling us to not be scared, to open our wings and fly, and go off to wherever we want.
