With Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, the sports biopic genre got its due. The film along with ‘MaryKom’ was amongst the biggest grosser at the Box-Office in the recent past and paved the way for upcoming biopic on other eminent sporting personalities. As big a reputation the sport of ‘Cricket’ enjoys in this country, it was only a matter of time that lives of cricketing superstars was displayed at the cinemas.

The trailer for the movie ‘AZHAR’ is out now. It gives a true account of the cricketing journey of another successful Indian Cricket Captain, Mohd. Azharuddin, it’s about his highs and his career shattering lows.

Emraan Hashmi tries to recreate his laidback body language and his cricketing gear looks spot on with the white helmet that was dear to the former Indian Captain. The role of Azhar’s first wife is being portrayed by Prachi Desai, whose get-up is that of a simpleton Hyderabadi Muslim housewife. Nargi Fakhri plays the ‘enticing’, Sangeeta Bijlani, a former pageant winner and actress, and also Azhar’s second wife in real life. Sangeeta and Azhar are divorced as of now.

The trailer initially focuses on the way Azhar burst on to the scene of world cricket. Towards the end, the trailer gives us a glimpse of the whole match-fixing scandal, where Emraan Hashmi is seen arguing and fighting over his alleged involvement with the betting syndicate.

The film releases on the 13th of May, portrayed as the ‘judgment day’ by the makers, and there is a lot to look forward to!
