It seems that the heydays of Marathi films are back. One after another, Marathi film industry is offering thought provoking films to viewers. Earlier, Nana Patekar starred ‘Natsamrat’ drew everyone’s attention towards parched Maharashtra and now ‘Sairat’, meaning wild in English, is doing extremely well at the theaters.

The film director Nagraj Manjule stated that ‘Sairat’ is a tribute to tragic-romantic films portrayed in Bollywood over the last few decades such as “Ek Duje Ke Lie”, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and others. ‘Sairat’ deals with the obnoxious social taboo of caste system in which an upper caste girl falls in love with a lower caste boy. Then the elopement followed amidst several twists and turns.

Here is the trailer of the film;

Breaking all previous records, Sairat is now the leading Box-office grosser in the history of Marathi Cinema. It has already earned 50-crore since its release last month and still going strong. The plot of the film is very interesting. It revolves around the hindrance of inter-caste marriages in our society and how a couple from distinct socio-economic background fights wholeheartedly to stay united.

This film deals with more practical problems that are already prevailing in our society. The film also shows immorality of moral policing as well in quiet a few scenes. Thanks to the debutant pair of Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru, who acted so naturally throughout the film with a touch of innocence.

In a nutshell, if you wish to see something different and real than don’t miss this thought provoking Marathi movie ‘Sairat’. Music director Ajay-Atul will enthrall you with soothing Marathi tracks and background score.
